Constanța, September 2, 2025 – RAJA S.A. Constanța has announced a scheduled 20-hour interruption to drinking water supply, from Tuesday, September 2, at 10:00 p.m. until Wednesday, September 3, at 6:00 p.m., to carry out essential water-supply network modernisation works.
For additional information, see Water outage in Constanța on April 22, 2026: affected areas, the RAJA schedule and when water will return, an article that explores an aspect directly related to this topic.
Affected areas
- “Dr. Alexandru Gafencu” Emergency Military Hospital
- Mamaia Boulevard (between Dumbrava Roșie Street and Pescărie Bridge) and adjacent streets
- Hotel Malibu
- The Universitate and Faleză Nord neighbourhoods
- Thermal substations 22, 30, 31, 33, 35, 37 and 38
Customers in the Piața Chiliei area will continue to have water, but at reduced pressure. Water may be unavailable on upper floors and at the ends of supply lines during the works.
Why is the water supply being suspended in Constanța?
The works are part of contract CL 1: “Water and sewerage networks in the central area of Constanța Municipality”, covering Lots 1, 2 and 3, with a total value of more than 84 million lei, financed through the Operational Programme for Large Infrastructure (POIM).
The main objectives are:
- Connecting new pipelines to the existing system
- Decommissioning old pipelines
- Installing sectorisation valves to make distribution more efficient
Resumption of water supply
Water supply will resume gradually as pressure is restored in the network. The water may be turbid or discoloured, which is a temporary and normal situation.
Recommendations for customers
- Avoid using the water for drinking immediately after supply resumes.
- Use the water only for household purposes (hygiene, washing and cleaning) until it stabilises.
- Keep a minimum water reserve for the duration of the outage.
